The Begur Experience

Begur Costa Brava what to do and where to go.

Restaurants

The Food Tent

Mirador. Next to Gerona Airport

If you are arriving late and want a meal before progressing, this is a surprisingly good restaurant with reasonable inexpensive food down a dusty track next to the entrance to the airport. It’s also quite good if you’ve arrived at the airport too early on your return and just fancy a drink or coffee.

Hostal Sa Tuna
Platja Sa Tuna

It took us some time to get round to visiting this lovely restaurant where you can enjoy delicious food in a beautiful setting right by the beach. If going at night don’t be put off by the long dark windy road down from Begur. It’s worth the journey. Towards the top end of restaurant prices for the area but worth it.

Restaurant Can Bach. Sant Feliu de Boada.

Not to be confused with Can Bech at Fontanilles. 1 mile up the road towards Peratallada turn left down a long cart track. Very traditional farmhouse/barn restaurant. Good value. In the day time visit the Vins Can Bach next door. Take a bottle to fill up with brandy from the barrel, and sample some of the liqueurs!

Tel: (972) 19 60 80

La Pizzetta, Begur.

Don’t be put off by the long flight of stairs down to this very pleasant pizzeria. Close to the village square and church. Conservatory style restaurant where you would have to book at the height of the season. They do a great french onion soup.

Un Poc de Tot
Begur

Romantic setting in a garden courtyard with patio heaters and individual table lamps. Middle range prices. Good for grilled food. A few freebies and sharing starters adds a nice touch.

You can also eat inside but outside is more attractive

Fonda Caner. Begur.

More contemporary decor and stylish. Rather different to the traditional wine cellar / farmhouse type of dining room in many restaurants of the area.

Good food and a reasonably priced menu.

Can Bech, Fontanilles.

Turn left from the road to Toroella just before the petrol station. Worth finding – it is a bit different but the food can be rather rich. Sophisticated menu & in a charming environment. Slightly higher prices than some of the local restaurants but still reasonable. (Do not confuse with Can Bach at Sant Feliu.)

On the promeade at Tamariu. Cheap and cheerful with good wholesome food. Great for sardines and toasted tomato bread. Ideal for a light late lunch after a morning on the beach. Similar to Es Dofi
Psg.del Mar, 20

El Pati, Peratallada.

There can’t be many more delightful settings for dining outside than this one. A garden terrace with lemon and orange trees is the setting for good food under the stars. Slightly higher priced than many. Found just on the entrance to Peratallada if you have parked in the top car park by the ‘moat’
